We are proud to say Chās School
of Film and Television is one of the most respected of all
acting schools in the San Francisco Bay area, and is
nationally recognized. Charles Ascello founded Chās School of
Film and Television on the principle of integrity and over 32
years of experience. Charles continues to be a working
actor, director, writer, model and producer; which he feels is
an integral part of his ability to teach not only acting
classes, but also “the business” in an industry that is
continually changing.
He is intimately familiar with the business, both in San
Francisco and Los Angeles, including producing/directing
showcases staged for major talent agents and casting directors
such as CAA. His exclusive acting classes combine history,
theory and practical application preparing actors to join the
work force in a minimum amount of class time. As with any
good teacher, Charles does not believe in any one set
technique of acting, Method-Stanislavsky-Meisner, etc., but
his extensive experience allows him to approach each student
as an individual, recognizing what philosophy, or combination
thereof, will best suit the actor.
His classes are considered semi-private, with an average of
4-8 students per session, so he can devote enough time to each
actor’s development. He also understands that good acting is
good acting, whether for stage, film, television, voice-over,
or yes, modeling and that each has its own style and
technique, which needs to be understood and learned. Charles’
only goal is the satisfaction he receives when a student
becomes an actor and delivers a truly extraordinary piece of
work.
